Can’t believe JMU basketball is at a place again where people can talk Top 25 votes.

This year just has to be a dream, right? I’m gonna wake up and it’s April 22, 2020 and Flo just charged me $15.99, right? Please, I don’t want to wake up. I don’t want to look at Joey’s terrible haircut.

Would be a pleasant surprise. The win over Michigan State got national attention. They won the most important game on the schedule.

I will be pleasantly surprised if JMU is ranked. Most of the top 24 teams won. There were only like 4 top 25 teams losing last week through tonight.

As hburg said, only four of the Top 25 teams lost and I’d only guess two exit the poll - #17 SDSU (529 points) and #23 St Mary’s (335). I’d bet #2 Duke (1,466) and #4 Michigan State (1,346) stay somewhere in the Top 25. For context Illinois needed just 104 points to land at #25 last week.

There were 8 teams receiving votes that lost this week. Wisconsin (53 points), Maryland (34), Auburn (27), Kansas St (13), Missouri (6), Florida (2), CofC (2), and New Mexico (1).

The other notables were Colorado (49 points), UCLA (47), and St. John's (47) who received decent vote numbers last week and won all their games. They didn’t play a ranked opponent or any of significance though.

Is it a simple SDSU+SMC out and Colorado and UCLA in? Or can JMU leap frog one of those to get a spot? Tomorrow is going to be very interesting. I think the key is how few points you need for #25 and 104 doesn’t feel like a lot at all to me. Here’s to hoping!

Receiving Votes is a very good first step that we all should really be pleased with.
